Kuchipudi dance is from the southern state of Andra Pradesh. The name comes from the village Kuchelapuram. The dance has a kind of young flirtatious quality. Sometimes the dancers dance with their feet on the edges of a circular brass tray. The women usually have a long braid which swings and sometimes is held as they dance.

Alapadma - with palms up all the fingers are stretched with little finger and ring finger stretching upward and thumb stretched out
to look like a flower
Trisula - palm facing forward and index finger, middle finger and ring finger extended up ward and thumb crosses hand to join little finger.
Karkata - both hands stretched open , palms facing toward the body and fingers interlaced
